For Romantic Relaxation

1. Have a Home Spa Day

By Melissa DuPont on UnSplash

If you would normally book a romantic spa day on Valentine’s Day with your partner, yourself, or your best friend, then why not try and replicate it at home? Get some massage oils, scented candles, new face masks, fancy body lotions, and run a bubbly bath! Perhaps even throw some prosecco in there (the situation – not the bath)!

Treat yourself or each other to a lovely relaxing evening that will probably be much more intimate and relaxing in the comfort of your own home.

2. Netflix & Chill

By Mollie Sivaram on UnSplash

Is there a list of films that you have always wanted to see but never got around to watching them? Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year, so why not take the whole day and spend it Netflixing/Amazon Prime-ing/Hulu-ing and chilling?

Get a proper set up ready – get speakers, some delicious drinks, crunchy popcorn (salty, sweet, or toffee?), and some other tasty treats – and spend the day watching some amazing films! Why not see how many you can get through in one day?

3. Couples' Game Night

By Riho Kroll on UnSplash

If lounging around all day watching movies isn’t really your thing, then why not create a full day of games and quizzes this Valentine’s day? I’m sure you have so many boxes of games that are gathering dust hidden away at the back of your cupboards! Blow off the dust and crack open those boxes!

Get stuck into some Yahtzee, Cluedo, Monopoly, Scrabble, or Boggle and rack up your scores – loser cooks dinner!

For Tipsy Tipples

4. At Home Bar Crawl

By Steve Allison on UnSplash

Okay, so you might not be able to do a proper bar crawl this year, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t replicate it in the comfort of your own home! Now, hear us out – but why not make each room in the house a different ‘bar’? Cocktails in the kitchen, wine in the living room, beer in the bedrooms…and how about some spirits in the bathroom?

You could even make it virtual, by inviting friends and family to do the same!

5. Get Involved in an Online Cocktail Class

By Poojitha Prasad on UnSplash

Why not try a romantic Valentine’s activity from the comfort of your own home? Take a look at online cocktail classes to unleash your creativity and tipsiness! Learn how to make mojitos, martinis, cosmopolitans, and pina coladas, and store the information and recipes ready to impress family and friends in the future!

Make sure you have all of the equipment and glasses at the ready at home – oh and the alcohol!

6. Home Tasting

By Maksym Kaharlytskyi on UnSplash

If cocktails seem too much effort, why not just get a selection of wines, gins, whiskies, tequilas, or beers together for an at-home tasting session? Set up your glasses, get the alcohols of your choice, and settle in for some tasty tipples!

Put on some relaxing music and enjoy spending time in the company of partners, friends, or yourself – and some delicious drinks!

For Tasty Treats

7. Create Your Own Chocolate Experience

By Tamas Pap on UnSplash

Everyone loves chocolate! If a chocolate fondue is something you would do for a Valentine’s night out, then why not try to recreate it at home? There are so many tasty treats that can be dipped into melted chocolate: marshmallows, fruit, biscuits…why not even dip in some veg?

Put a romantic film on in the background, some quiet music to set the ambiance, and get stuck into some chocolatey heaven!

8. Recreate a Past Date

By Clem Onojeghuo on UnSplash

You might not be able to go for a day or night out date with your person, but there is nothing stopping you from trying to recreate a special moment or memory in the comfort of your own home. Perhaps you went into a city for a fancy meal, or a walk in the park with a picnic, or even did an exciting activity that you hadn’t tried before?

Whatever it is, you can try to recreate your date at home – have a fancy meal with pictures of cityscapes, have a picnic wrapped up warm in the garden, or even try rollerblading in your living room (we do not endorse this – skate at your own risk)!

9. Get a Takeaway From a Local Restaurant

By James Butterly on UnSplash

We need to support local businesses during these difficult times. For Valentine’s day this year, why not get a takeaway from the restaurant you might have gone out to given the opportunity? It might be a local Italian place, a favourite Indian restaurant or somewhere you have always wanted to visit but never got the chance?

If you are struggling for choice, set up a randomiser to choose for you. If the items on the menu all sound great, close your eyes and point! You might be pleasantly surprised with what you get!

10. Cook Something New Together

By Jimmy Dean on UnSplash

If you don’t want to order in and would prefer to do something more hands-on, then how about finding recipes for a three-course meal that you can cook either alone, with your partner, or virtually with friends?

The dinner could be as easy or as difficult as you’d like and at the end of it, you will have the satisfaction of learning and tasting something new! But again, if all else fails, have a back-up or the local takeaway on stand-by!

We hope this list has provided you with a wide variety of options to make your lockdown Valentine’s day even more enjoyable and romantic!
